New 2020 Volkswagen Passat Brings the Cool Factor

Somewhere along the line it became unfashionable to drive a sedan. Maybe it was something about four doors and the look of those stocky, wheeled boats that packed the highways sometime around 1984. For whatever reason, the idea that sleek lines and a practical setup could not be found in the same package has been floating around ever since. And that’s really a shame, because it’s just not true. To prove it, you really don’t have to look any further than the new 2020 Volkswagen Passat.

What makes the 2020 Passat a real find is how well it combines the two concepts of practicality and luxury into a single package. Instead of being at odds with one another, they dovetail wonderfully – improving the look, performance and comfort of the sedan.

For the driver, the easy-to-use technology of Volkswagen legend is right there front and center, making the Passat a comfortable and capable drive. LED projector headlights with LED Daytime Running Lights help illuminate your drive and add a sense of sophistication. LED taillights look great, but are also efficient and long-lasting. Rain-sensing wipers also help to keep the view clear up front, while an auto-dimming rearview mirror helps lessen the glaring lights from those traveling behind you. And as always with the Passat, it will get up and go with some zip – turbo comes standard.

For the passengers, the VW engineers have put together a setup that ensures they enjoy being in the 2020 Passat almost as much as the driver enjoys being behind the wheel. And for those smaller passengers, there are even some treats that will please the parents up front. The V-Tex leatherette seating surfaces look and feel like leather, but it’s really V-Tex: an available surface that’s comfortable, stylish, and easy to maintain. There is also the Climatronic® dual-zone climate control that allows passengers to control both heat and cool in a specialized area.

2020 vw passat interior

The Passat provides more than three feet of rear legroom, so friends of all sizes can stretch out and enjoy. Because your friends in the backseat matter too, the 2020 Passat is equipped with two available rear USB ports so everyone can keep their batteries full and the rear air vents allow friends in the backseat to redirect their own airflow. These extra touches make for an extra-memorable (and comfortable) ride.

For everyone who gets into and out of the new 2020 Passat, the available Passat R-Line steps up the bold and sporty attitude for which the car is known. With a sporty front end and rear bumper, 19-inch wheels, and performance design cues, everyone looks good getting into and out of this car.

Though the driver may be in control, everyone will love that an eight-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (along with SiriusXM satellite radio) is now standard. Plus, VW has included some top-notch safety gear – even on the base models – like forward-collision warning, automated emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. There is also available adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and upgrades on the menu such as 18- or 19-inch wheels, a Fender audio system, keyless entry with push-button start, and Nappa leather seating surfaces.

The Volkswagen Passat is a solid vehicle offering a wide range of options and a functional setup. It’s also a blast to drive, looks sensational, and is packed with luxurious bells and whistles. It’s a tremendous mix of what drivers want and what they need. But more than anything, it’s just a really cool car.

How to Pick the Right Used Car Dealership

If you have spent any amount of time at used car dealerships looking for your next vehicle, then you know that there is a wide variety of dealerships out there. The available inventory and the buying experience can both vary dramatically from place to place. You can spend a lot of time going from one used car dealership to another trying to find a vehicle that meets your needs and expectations.

You can save yourself a lot of time and frustration by narrowing down the list of used car dealerships you want to visit based on a few key factors. This will save you from going to a long list of dealerships that do not meet your expectations and/or getting frustrated early on in your search. In order to have the best buying experience for your next used car, look for a dealership that offers an extensive inventory, provides a stress-free purchasing process, and stands behind the quality of the used cars they sell.

Look for a used car dealership with an extensive inventory

silver 2017 chevy silverado

The amount of inventory offered at a used car dealership can span a wide range. Some small dealerships only have a few used cars on their lots. You can waste a lot of time visiting dealerships with such a limited inventory because they are unlikely to have the exact vehicle you want, or even a similar one. When you research used car dealerships in your area, take the size of their inventory into consideration. An extensive inventory of used cars will give you a much better chance of finding a vehicle that works for you and fits into your budget.

Look for a used car dealership that offers a stress-free buying experience

The buying experience is another factor that can be dramatically different at used car dealerships. The high-pressure selling tactics that have come to be associated with buying a used car are still alive and well at some dealerships. But the good news is that you have another option. The best used car dealerships know that customers prefer a stress and pressure-free buying experience. As you explore your options, make sure you look for a used car dealership that offers a good buying experience.

Look for a used car dealership that stands behind the quality of the used cars they sell

orange 2015 toyota 4runnerOne of the most stressful elements of purchasing a used car is making sure you are getting a quality vehicle. If you do not know a lot about used cars, you may worry that you will miss something important and end up with a vehicle that requires constant repairs. You can avoid purchasing a lemon by going to a dealership that stands behind the quality of the vehicles they sell.

One way a dealership can stand behind the quality of their used cars is by offering a warranty. Getting a warranty on the used car you purchase can give you the peace of mind that comes with knowing you will be taken care of if problems arise.

There is no reason for you to have a negative experience buying your next used car. There are high quality used car dealerships out there that offer a large inventory, a no hassle buying process, and provide warranties for their products.

If you are in East Texas, you can find a used car dealership with all of these qualities – and many more – at Patterson Tyler. You can see our extensive inventory online or visit our location and look at the options with a member of our experienced staff. We offer an easy buying process with ‘no hassle pricing’ and we are the home of the Patterson FREE Lifetime Warranty.

The All-New Volkswagen Arteon Screams Speed and Luxury

The very best premium automobiles turn our heads for more than one reason alone. They draw on our sense of nostalgia, on what we knew to be luxury in the decades before. We see them on the lot or driving by and recognize something in their look and feel and performance that we will always want. Great cars also make us look forward into the future. They take the next steps in performance and design, bringing us something we didn’t even know we wanted – but now that we’ve seen it, we have to drive it.

volkswagen arteon 2019The Arteon was introduced by Volkswagen in 2019 for drivers who recognize the new and the classic ideas coming together to create a premium sedan that meets the needs and desires of drivers for many years to come. And it is coming at a price that defies the design and technology on display.

Under the hood of the new 2019 Volkswagen Arteon is a 268-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission that cycles smoothly through the gears. Front-wheel drive and 18-inch wheels come standard, but drivers can upgrade to 4MOTION® all-wheel drive and 19-inch wheels. As conditions change, available 4MOTION® distributes power between the front and rear wheels as needed to help optimize traction and stability. An adaptive suspension also comes standard and can adjust automatically to a particular driving style. Or drivers can manually set the suspension settings for Comfort, Normal, or Sport modes. The variable-ratio steering system provides a quick response to driver input at higher speeds. The XDS® Cross Differential System uses the brakes to help maintain power to the outside wheel and to improve cornering.

volkswagen arteon 2019Inside, tech plays a major role in the 2019 Arteon. The available Volkswagen Digital Cockpit displays your information digitally in a high-resolution, customizable display. The display can offer a wider navigation view or be customized for the driver’s preferences. The Arteon can store up to four driver profiles, remembering your personalization preferences for a wide variety of different settings and systems. Additionally, the center console display features App-Connect and will mirror and sync a driver’s select apps on the high-resolution glass touchscreen display. The technology included throughout the driving experience in the Arteon is functional, as well as beautiful, and offers drivers the advantage of a superior driving experience supported by the information and entertainment that take the experience to the next level.

Safety is also a priority for Volkswagen drivers. Basic driver-assistance features such as automated emergency braking and blind-spot monitoring are standard. More advanced features like adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and automatic high-beam headlamps are optional.

Volkswagen describes the 2019 Arteon as “Modern art you can really feel,” and all it takes is one look to know that’s the truth. Sleek lines that shout out “luxury” and a price that seems too good to be true means that the all-new Volkswagen Arteon sets a new standard for fastback sedans for years to come.

2020 Gladiator – The Jeep You’ve Always Wanted

The midsize truck market is a little bit stale these days, and truck drivers are looking for something new, something different, something that is not the same old model trotted out each year. Like many a driver stuck in a spot they should have been driving in the first place, a Jeep is here to pull them out of the mud. The 2020 Jeep Gladiator is, quite simply, the answer to about 100 questions you have always wanted to ask. And now, Jeep is bringing back this classic for a modern era to totally redefine the midsize truck game.

The real secret to the appeal of the Gladiator is not really a secret at all – it is just what you are looking for from this vehicle. It’s a classic Jeep Wrangler that has the added appeal of being a functional, high-performing truck. It is something that Jeep enthusiasts and truck devotees have been seeking for decades. And right now is the best time for it -- the current iteration of the Jeep Wrangler is probably the best yet at combining the look of the classic Jeep silhouette with the technology, handling, and ride quality of a high-end SUV. The Gladiator just does something very simple and leaves the best parts of the Jeep alone. The Gladiator keeps the best of the Jeep in place. There are removable doors and roof panels. There is legendary off-road capability and four-wheel drive performance. It looks like a Jeep.

The Gladiator will launch with a single engine: current the 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6, and you can get it with a six-speed manual on all Gladiator trim lines. The automatic is there too, and it gets 17 mpg city, 22 highway, and the stick-shift does 16/23. A diesel engine will be available later as an option with the automatic. Jeep has no current plans to offer the 2.0-liter turbo four cylinder that’s optional on the Wrangler, but we wouldn’t bet against it down the road.

2020 Jeep GladiatorBut all that is pretty standard for a Jeep – what about the “truck stuff”? The Gladiator is ready for the work that truck owners want to do, as well as the play. The Gladiator can tow up to 7,650 pounds with the automatic transmission, and tests show it excelling with the standard boat-and-trailer combination a ton of drivers will be using. The bed is big enough to carry a good amount of cargo without being too big to keep costs and convenience down. The Gladiator is the most off-road capable midsize pickup truck ever thanks to a combination of impressive equipment like front and rear Tru-Lok® locking differentials, branded FOX shocks and an available forward-facing TrailCam Off-Road Camera.

2020 Jeep GladiatorBut this thing is not just a trail-runner. It’s got the tech and safety features drivers expect in every vehicle these days. It looks and acts like a Jeep, but inside you’ll find a blind-spot monitoring system, adaptive cruise control that has a full-stop feature, forward collision warning with active braking, and even rear cross-path detection. The Gladiator is just as at home in the grocery store parking lot picking up your supplies as it will be on that weekend camping trip you’re stocking up for.

The Gladiator takes everything you love about a Jeep and incorporates the latest technology, equipment and features to produce something wholly new that still feels familiar. The first models are on showroom floors, and drivers are taking notice, because the 2020 Jeep Gladiator is stepping into the arena and it’s already looking like a champion.

The Power of the Hellcat: Dodge Charger vs Challenger

The 2019 Dodge Charger and the 2019 Dodge Challenger were built to provide you with the power and speed you need while giving you two unique designs to choose from. So what's the difference between a Charger and a Challenger? Whether you like a sports car with smoother curves or a muscle car with a bold appearance, the Charger and the Challenger will exceed your performance expectations in more ways than one.

Exterior and Interior

The 2019 Dodge Challenger has more of a classical muscle car appearance with its long hood, squared-off grille, round lights, and flat roof. With the Challenger only being a two-door sports car, the interior is slightly smaller than that of the Charger. The 2019 Charger has a sporty sedan appearance with a shorter curved hood and four-door entry. If passenger seating is an important factor for you, the Charger can seat up to five passengers and offers more spacious seating. Both vehicles come equipped with similar dashboards, controls, and infotainment systems.

2019 Dodge Charger technology 2019 Dodge Charger Technology

2019 Dodge Challenger technology 2019 Dodge Challenger Technology

Both the 2019 Challenger and the 2019 Charger offer similar standard features and upgrades. Each model comes equipped with a 7.0-inch touchscreen with an 8.4-inch screen available as an upgrade. Other features such as Uconnect, hands-free calling, keyless entry, and more are available as well. The 2019 Charger is a little more passenger friendly with its more spacious back seats that feature additional charging ports.

As far as driver-assist features, the 2019 Charger offers more available options. Drivers can choose from features such as Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane-Departure Warning with Lane-Keep Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Rear Parking Sensors, and Automatic High Beams. In comparison, the Challenger offers Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Rear Parking Sensors, and Automatic High Beams.

Under the Hood

The 2019 Charger and the 2019 Challenger both come standard with a 3.6-liter V6 engine. For a boost in speed and power, both vehicles offer the same options of V8 engines. A 5.7-liter V8 will give you 370 horsepower in the Charger and 375 horsepower in the Challenger. If that’s not enough power, the 6.4-liter V8 boosts the power of each model to 480 horsepower. For maximum speed, the Hellcat engine nearly doubles the power at an impressive 707 horsepower with the standard 2019 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat and 717 horsepower with the 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. New this year is the Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye that boasts 797 horsepower with an eight-speed automatic transmission. It doesn’t get much faster than that.

Fuel Economy

Not only do the Charger and Challenger come with a lot of power, they both come with great fuel economy. Models equipped with the V6 engine have an MPG of 19 in the city and 30 on the highway. When equipped with the 5.7-liter V8 engine, both vehicles have a combined 19 MPG. The standard Hellcat models produce a lot of power and therefore offer a lower fuel economy at 16 MPG combined, which isn’t bad for powerful sports cars that can knock you back in your seat with a good thrust on the gas pedal.

When it comes to cost, the 2019 Dodge Charger and 2019 Dodge Challenger only slightly differ in price – the 2019 Charger has a starting price of $29,220 while the 2019 Challenger has a starting price of $27,295.

The Charger and Challenger both give you the power and speed you want while providing you with the ability to match your style. With their completely different styles and designs, you can choose the one that’s right for you.

Which one will you choose?

Volkswagen’s The People First Warranty is Unmatched Among Automakers

Volkswagen is putting car owners first with their unmatched The People First Warranty. Drivers of new Volkswagens enjoy a New Vehicle Limited Warranty of 6 years/72,000 Miles (whichever occurs first). That’s basic warranty coverage we haven’t seen before. And it gets better. If you are purchasing a used model that is within the warranty period, Volkswagen will transfer the vehicle’s warranty to you at no cost to the seller. You are probably thinking it’s too good to be true, but it’s not. Keep reading and see why Volkswagen’s The People First Warranty is America’s best car warranty.

What’s Covered?

The New Vehicle Limited Warranty covers your new Volkswagen from bumper to bumper.

Taking a look under the hood, this manufacturer warranty also includes a powertrain warranty that will cover your vehicle’s powertrain components.

Also included is the coverage of repairs caused by mechanical defects. These repairs include:

Battery: Covered for 3 years or 36,000 miles (whichever comes first)

Brake pads/shoes: Covered for 1 year or 12,000 miles (whichever comes first)

Bulbs: Halogen/xenon bulbs are covered for 3 years or 36,000 miles and all other bulbs are covered for 1 year or 12,000 miles (whichever comes first)

Paint: Covered for 3 years or 36,000 miles (whichever comes first)

Wiper blades: Covered for 1 year or 12,000 miles (whichever comes first)

Other coverage not caused by mechanical defects include wear and tear coverage for brake pads/shoes, brake discs/drums, and wiper blades, as well as mechanical adjustments. Brake pads/shoes and brake discs/drums worn below manufacturer specifications are under warranty for up to 1 year or 12,000 miles and wiper blades are covered for up to 6 months or 6,000 miles. Mechanical adjustments not caused by mechanical defects are covered for up to 1 year or 12,000 miles.

A more extensive list and description of the coverage can be found in each Volkswagen’s owner or manufacturer’s manual.

As you can see, you are still getting what other automakers include in their transferable bumper-to-bumper basic warranties plus more and for a longer period of time. That’s a whole of coverage under one extensive warranty.

How Does it Compare?

Volkswagen’s The People First Warranty is first for a reason. Not only does it include an extensive powertrain warranty, but it is longer in both years and miles than what other automakers offer for their transferable bumper-to-bumper basic warranty coverage.

Kia, Mitsubishi, and Hyundai only offer 5 years/60,000 miles for their transferable bumper-to-bumper basic warranty coverage compared to Volkswagen’s 6 years/72,000 miles.

Chevrolet, Ford, Honda, and Toyota offer an even shorter coverage period with their basic warranty coverage only covering 3 years/36,000 miles.

Volkswagen is confident in their vehicles and they value their customers first. So why settle for less when you can have more with Volkswagen’s The People First Warranty? This extended warranty literally outlasts the competition.

Volkswagen offers the 6 years/72,000 miles New Vehicle Limited Warranty on all their models except for the e-Golf, which comes with its own warranty.

With a 16.5-gallon fuel tank and 32 miles of all-electric driving, the total driving range adds up to be 520 miles. Even when the gas kicks in, the mileage continues to be fuel efficient.

Remembering the Past and Changing the Future: Ram 1500

You’ve heard of the Dodge Hellcat engine, but have you heard of the ‘Haulcat’?

With the Rebel TRX concept that was seen at the 2016 State Fair of Texas and the announcement of Hellcat engines being made available to the general public at the 2017 SEMA show in Las Vegas, Dodge fans couldn’t wait to see just how powerful a Ram truck could be.

Last year, Dream Giveaway Garage created a Hellcat-powered 2018 Ram 1500 4x4 truck with 707 horsepower.

That wasn’t a typo. They replaced the 5.7L HEMI in the 2018 Ram 1500 with the 6.2L HEMI Hellcat engine that is used in the Dodge Challenger and Charger. With additional custom performance tuning for an enhanced eight-speed automatic transmission, this is truly a one-of-a-kind truck.

The ‘Haulcat’ was created and given away to one lucky winner for the Dream Giveaway program that raises money for charitable organizations. The features included factory options as well as custom modifications made by Dream Giveaway Garage.

Factory features included an eight-speed 8HP70 automatic transmission, a Black Crystal Pearl exterior, a sport performance hood, a rear sliding window, an anti-spin differential rear axle, and a 3.92 rear axle ratio.

The additional modifications featured the 707 horsepower HEMI Hellcat engine, a custom engine tuning, a custom dual exhaust, a two-inch drop front suspension, a four-inch drop rear suspension, custom Haulcat graphics, an all-leather interior, and a custom bed cover.

This Dodge Ram truck was enhanced to do what no other truck has done before. While there was only one Haulcat created, you might be able to get behind your own Hellcat-powered truck in the near future.

Rumors have been circling around a 2021 launch of a Ram 1500 inspired by the 2016 Rebel TRX concept that would offer the Hellcat engine. While all that power is definitely something to look forward to, you don’t have to wait to get behind a specially designed Ram truck.

Ram Warlock all blackDodge has proven that they can withstand the test of time with the limited-edition Ram Warlock. This model takes the old (spirit of the 1976-1979 models) and combines it with the new (2019 Ram 1500 Classic) to create a truck that will put a spell on you.

With a starting MSRP of $37,040, the Warlock features a new design with aggressive capabilities.

The monochromatic design of the Ram Warlock includes black powder-coated bumpers, 20-inch black aluminum wheels, black badging, black tow hooks, a black RAM tailgate badge, and available black fender flares and black side steps. Beyond looks, this majestic truck features a one-inch suspension lift (4x4 models only), heavy-duty rear shocks, and LED taillights.

For extra customizability, you can add a sport hood decal, chrome dual exhausts, and choose from nine available exterior colors.

The interior follows the same all-black design and comes standard with the luxury group package. This package includes all-black cloth seats, standard 40/20/40 bench seats, front and rear floor mats, a leather wrapped steering wheel, LED bed lighting, power-folding mirrors, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, an overhead console, and a seven-inch display.

Ram Warlock interiorUpgrades include premium cloth bucket seats, heated rear seats, and Uconnect 4C with an 8.4-inch touchscreen.

The magic doesn’t stop there. Get the power you want with a choice between a 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine with 305 horsepower or a 5.7L HEMI V8 with 395 horsepower. That’s a power upgrade to which we just can’t say no.

The Ram Warlock is a revamped blast from the past that will take you into the future. Why blend in when you can stand out with a uniquely designed Ram 1500?

With the new lineup of Dodge Ram trucks and the future of the 1500 with the Warlock and the potential of the Haulcat, you will want to collect them all.
